The list of questions is long, but you have a partner with Homes by Design. Do you own a lot? Already have plans? Have a style in mind? You saw a photo in a magazine? What makes a house, a home to you? These are just a few of the things to consider as we get started.
The wish list is complete and the first round of questions are answered. That’s when the real creative process begins, pencil meets paper, and your ideas take the first step to becoming your new home. Sometimes what looks and sounds good to you in your head, doesn’t appeal to you when you see it on paper. We will continue to work with you until you are satisfied before the plan is finalized.
With the floorplan complete, it’s time to start on the outside of your home. If you have a particular style in mind, we will help you develop an elevation based on your floorplan. Maybe you saw a photo in a magazine or drove past a home that you like. We will work with your homes layout to incorporate the elements that you want. The other consideration is how your new home will fit on your particular property. The actual landscape may dictate certain choices that will work for you and your lifestyle.
The layout and blueprints are complete, but that’s not the end to the design process. Sometimes you can’t really get a feel for the home until it is framed and you are standing in the actual space. Maybe you want to add built-in cabinets to a room, move a door, or extend your living space by adding a patio or firepit with seating. Whatever changes you have in mind, in most cases, they are not an issue. Rest assured, we will always inform you of how the changes effect the budget and won’t start until you give us your approval.
